Verwacht: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - JK Rowling

Goed nieuws voor de echte fans van Harry Potter: er komt een achtste deel! Harry Potter and the cursed child (Harry Potter en het vervloekte kind) is dan wel geen ‘echt’ boek, maar het script van een toneelstuk, maar toch. Eind juli zal het toneelstuk in Londen op de planken staan en direct daarna is ook het script in boekvorm te koop. Vooralsnog alleen in het Engels, maar later in het jaar verschijnt ook een Nederlandse vertaling!

Harry Potter and the cursed child staat enigszins los van de zeven eerder verschenen boeken. Het is negentien jaar later en Harry is inmiddels volwassen. Hij is getrouwd, heeft drie kinderen en werkt bij het Ministerie van Toverkunst. Hij is hard op weg een burn-out te krijgen. Hij worstelt met zijn verleden en ondertussen gaat ook zijn jongste zoon Albus gebukt onder de familiegeschiedenis waar hij noodgedwongen mee moet leven. Samen zullen ze moeten leren dat duisternis soms uit onverwachte hoek komt.

Harry Potter en het vervloekte kind is een samenwerkingsverband tussen schrijfster JK Rowling en toneelmakers John Tiffany en Jack Thorne. Het script zal direct volgend op de première van het toneelstuk gepubliceerd worden als hardcover. Er zal op dat moment ook een ebook-versie verschijnen.

Uitgever Little Brown & Company zegt over Harry Potter and the cursed child:

Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016.
